The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corbeaux 1er Cru has a very tightly-knit bouquet that is actually less expressive than the Village at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with brambly red fruit very pure and harmonious almost understated and yet with Bachelet's precision defining the tender finish. Irresistible.
A pretty light to mid purple as always a wine which comes over as more discreet than the Gevrey Vieilles Vignes. The nose though is delicious in its delicacy light raspberry and rose petals with a fine persistence. Drink from 2025-2032.
Moderate wood suffuses the cool and ripe nose of restrained dark berry fruit aromas that are liberally laced with earth forest floor and overt sauvage elements. There is a lovely mid-palate mouthfeel to the beautifully tension-filled flavors that possess exquisite poise due to the lovely interplay between the fruit density structure and acidity on the impressively persistent finale. Lovely stuff that should also repay mid-term keeping. Worth checking out.
The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux is quite deep and muscular for the vintage offering up aromas of plums dark chocolate spices and forest floor followed by a medium to full-bodied ample and fleshy palate whose charm and suavity belie its reserves of tannin and concentration.
