Made from 100% Syrah aged two years in barrel the 2016 Côte Rôtie Les Grandes Places is a sensational effort from one of the great terroirs in the Côte Brune side of the appellation. Loaded with black and blue fruits obvious minerality crushed violets and charred meat notes it shows more and more complexity with time in the glass as well as classic Côte Rôtie floral and exotic notes. Possessing beautiful richness medium to full body nicely integrated acidity and building tannins it has remarkable concentration and depth in the vintage while staying balanced and elegant. Count me impressed. This killer wine will be better with short-term cellaring and shine for 10-15 years. Bravo!
