Decanter: 95 Points

This isn?t strictly speaking a domaine wine from Joseph Drouhin but the contract with the Marquis de Laguiche is so long that it might as well be. Showing impressive concentration yeasty textured weight delightful 25% new wood and notes of be

Jasper Morris: 91-94 Points

Pale lemon colour the nose is quite discreet. Reserved at first with a block of dense white fruit behind some greengage notes but still feels fully correctly ripe. No lack of density here racy and steely at the finish.

Burghound: 90-93 Points

This is ever-so-mildly phenolic in character (think olive or nut oil nuances) with additional notes of petrol resin white fruit compote and a dollop of toasty oak. The exceptionally rich concentrated and powerful flavors also coat the mouth with dry extract that imparts a sappy texture to the solidly powerful and focused finish that delivers excellent length. There is a touch of backend warmth but overall this is really quite good. (Drink starting 2026)

Wine Advocate: 93 Points

The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche is showing beautifully wafting from the glass with aromas of golden orchard fruit peach confit citrus honeycomb and toast. Medium to full-bodied sumptuous and textural it's satiny and enveloping with a fleshy core underpinned by succulent acids concluding with a nicely defined finish despite its gourmand elegantly sun-kissed profile. The 2019 vintage has turned out beautifully at this address delivering wines of immense charm and it was a pleasure tasting through this selection with Véronique Drouhin. These textural sumptuous whites will offer considerable immediate appeal?even if Drouhin's two bottlings from the holdings of the Marquis de Laguiche are also built for the cellar?but it's the perfumed vibrant and enveloping reds that really steal the show this year. To my palate of all the region's important houses Drouhin's style places the greatest premium on aromatic range and structural finesse; and the 2019 reds compellingly exemplify those aesthetic priorities.

John Gilman: 93 Points

The 2018 Marquis de Laguiche Morgeot is simply outstanding. The bouquet is deep pure and very refined (as always!) delivering a beautiful blend of pear golden delicious apple pastry cream chalky soil tones acacia blossoms and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep full-bodied long and already silky on the attack with a lovely core of fruit excellent soil signature bright acids and fine purity and precision on the long and complex finish. (Drink between 2022-2050)

Vinous: 91-93 Points

The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru (Marquis de Laguiche) comes from a vineyard that tends to produce millerandé berries. This has an intense powerful bouquet with hints of menthol permeating the citrus fruit developing a more fumé style with time in the glass. The palate is well balanced with hints of passion fruit and peach on the entry becoming spicier and subtly Muscat-like toward the very satisfying persistent finish. Excellent. (Drink between 2022-2038)
