Shows expressive tropical aromas with an edge of hazelnut and mineral. On the palate there is a silky texture enlivened by crisp refreshing acidity that leads the wine to a pleasantly persistent finish. This 0.32ha parcel is a premier cru of the 'top level' according to winemaker Caroline Lestimé. It is located in Morgeot but higher on the slope and has thus taken the name of the specific lieu-dit in recent years. She has fermented part in tank and part in cask this year (one-third new). Interesting smoky noise a touch of bacon fat. This is rather exotic for the vintage even some honeysuckle plenty of flesh but still a good natural mineral thread behind. Ready to bottle and will make a lovely wine.
Moderate post-bottling reduction renders the nose tough to clearly assess at present. By contrast there is excellent vibrancy to the sleek and mineral-suffused flavors that aren't quite as dense but they are notably finer and with a more sophisticated textured on the balanced complex and impressively persistent finish. This is lovely and should age accordingly. (Drink starting 2028)
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Petits Clos 1er Cru has much more gusto on the nose compared to the Les Chenevottes vivid and full of beans! The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity lime and citrus peel touches of sour lemon lead to a tensile finish. Very promising. (Drink between 2023-2040)
Cask sample. Savoury edgy demanding dense palate without pure finesse but chewy and substantial. Good for those who like beefy burgundies. (Drink between 2025-2035)
