The 2022 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru is a step up on complexity from the Montreveneaux with crushed rocks infusing the red plum and cranberry aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid entry. A solid backbone here lends it a Pommard-like finish. Impressive persistence; this should age well in bottle. (Drink between 2026 - 2044)

Top of the slope at the left. Medium deep crimson. A little reduction at the moment. Grèves from the top does not have the depth and muscle of the middle ground but it can be and is a complete and charming wine in its own right with a little gravelly aspect accompanying the fruit at the finish. Fine wine.
