The firm and fragrant raspberry and mulberry fruit aromas of the 2022 Longeroies from Bruno Clair enchant even as the texture on the palate reveals that more age is needed. There is a tannic grip and densely packed structure to spare. The grapes come from Clair's 1.37 hectares in Longeroies; they have delivered a wine that should wait a minimum of five years but will drink well for the next 20 after that. Despite culling out the oldest fruit for the La Murée bottling this is still a monumental wine worthy of long ageing in the cellar. (Drink between 2027 - 2055)
The 2022 Marsannay Les Longeroies has some of my favorite aromatics amongst the Domaine's Marsannay: ebullient dark cherry fruit mixed with violet and light loamy aromas. The palate has more depth and concentration a touch of cola infusing the black fruit with insistent grip on the finish. Great focus and energy here. (Drink between 2025 - 2038)
A fine and stylish ruby purple. Really perfumed. This is more in the tensile strength style. Still a pure raspberry fruit with an extra burst of slightly darker fruit at the back. Finishes very well. Impeccable pH.
The 2022 Marsannay Les Longeroies is bright and tangy exhibiting notes of red berries orange zest and petals followed by a medium to full-bodied chalky and taut palate that will age with grace.
A super-fresh and exuberantly expressive nose combines notes of red currant cherry and plenty of floral elements especially violet. The attractively textured and moderately powerful medium-bodied flavors exude an almost aggressive minerality on the equally dusty youthfully austere and precise finale that is presently quite compact so some patience should prove beneficial. (Drink starting 2029)
