The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge Vieilles Vignes comes from 50-year-old vines but this will be reduced in quantity from next year due to the ending of two hectares of fermage. Scents of black plum and iodine on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth entry and fine acidity. The 30-40% whole bunches is barely tangible on the finish. Give this a year or two in bottle. (Drink between 2025 - 2035). 01/24
Here too there is a peppery character lurking in the background of the rich and generous if not especially dense flavors that conclude in a balanced mildly rustic and lingering finale that is firm enough to repay 5-ish years of keeping. (Drink starting 2027). 06/24
40% whole bunch 10% new oak. 45 barrels in 2022. Cask sample. Deep ruby. Red fruits raspberry red cherry. Ripe with lots of spice and a touch of vanilla from the oak. Very fine discreet powdery tannins. Juicy freshness to the acidity on the finish. (MH) (Drink between 2025 - 2035). 11/23
