The Beauty of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
A Benchmark Wine

Tuscany is one of the most beautiful and bountiful wine regions in the world. So much of the discussion on Tuscan red wine is focused today on Brunello di Montalcino, Super-Tuscans and of course Chianti.

However, one of the great historic wines of Tuscany is Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. This picturesque wine region east of the ancient town of Pienza, situated around the medieval village of Montepulciano produces some of the finest Sangiovese in Tuscany.

Our favorite wine of the region year after year is the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Asinone from Poliziano. A hillside single vineyard expression, Asinone, is based predominantly on Prugnolo Gentile, the local name and clone of Sangiovese in Montepulciano. This hillside has been regarded for its quality for centuries and is widely regarded as one of Italy’s first single vineyard wines. A rich history and pedigree that continues today to be known to the true Tuscan wine lovers and overlooked by many.

In most vintages, our stocks are only a few cases that seem to disappear in a flash. Luckily this year we were able to grab a few extra cases allowing us to extend a proper offer to our most Tuscan loving wine collectors. Here you get the power and structure of Brunello combined with the fruit, density and vibrancy of powerful Chianti Classico. The 2020 vintage is another tremendous success and a wine that Sangiovese lovers are sure to appreciate now and the years to follow.

Cheers
Jeremy
