Planted 1938 vines which never give more than 20 hl/ha all destemmed because the limestone gives the finesse needed. Brilliant nose here in its fully infused style. Magical fruit at the front of the palate that then continues all the way through to a sublime finish. Worthy of the fame of the vineyard!

The 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets reveals scents of cassis plums dark chocolate and spices framed by a generous application of toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied concentrated and tightly wound with tangy acids and an abundance of chalky tannin underpinned its deep core of fruit this is unusually structured this year and will require patience.

The 2018 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru is more opulent on the nose compared to the Clos de Verseuil with candied orange peel infusing the vivid red cherries and crushed strawberries. The palate is medium-bodied with a little chewiness on the entry quite a bold Caillerets with a "thickly-textured" grippy finish. Maybe the Clos de Verseuil possesses more finesse and exhibits greater terroir expression.
