From the own-rooted Koosah Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills, a fast-rising star among Willamette Valley producers for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Lush aromas of decadent Meyer lemon pulp and lemon drop candies melt away as a smoky flint jumps from the glass. The palate soars with zesty acidity bracing flavours of briny oyster shell, crushed slate, piquant notes of lime pith, and white pepper carry us home—a beautiful Chardonnay with many years ahead of it. A bright yellow/straw color the 2022 Chardonnay Koosah Vineyard is fresh with notes of chalky earth white peach and fresh earth. There?s a hint of sweet melony fruit on the palate and it has a balanced feel (but perhaps less austere) and a clean rounded finish. It?s a very pretty white to drink over the next 10 years. 250 cases were produced.

Crushed rocks mint and sage give way to freshly sliced Granny Smith apples as the 2022 Chardonnay Koosah Vineyard blossoms in the glass. This mixes vividly ripe citrus-laced orchard fruits with zesty acidity and hints of sour melon as it flows across the palate with silken textures. Notes of sweet spice linger above a salty concentration as the 2022 finishes with admirable length?lightly structure and remarkably fresh with a mineral crunchiness. This is a ripe interpretation of Koosah yet it has the acidity to balance. - By Eric Guido on May 2024 Ken Pahlow and Erica Landon of Walter Scott will do whatever it takes to deliver the highest-quality wine and the best representation of any given vintage. Their 2022s are wildly successful despite the year's many challenges. Pahlow went into great detail to explain what he believed to be the best way to deal with mildew issues from the cool and rainy spring burned buds from the frost an abundant crop due to the hot summer and finally the dry and hot conditions leading up to harvest. While many growers and winemakers were happy with the large crop set that resulted from the later flowering and secondary buds at Walter Scott the goal was to treat the vines like any other vintage. Therefore the team decided to remove the extra shoots and secondary buds and employ a single-cluster-per-shoot methodology. Even with this standard the quantity of fruit remained unexpectedly high? around 2.6 metric tons per acre. As a result the 2022s maintain the depth and complexity fans love and while the wines may have a slightly more immediate feel they are age-worthy. Alcohol levels are all in check. Tho
