Stunning stuff, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label offers a full-bodied, deep, majestic style as well as beautiful aromatics of cr me de cassis, violets, flowers, and nicely integrated background oak. It has ultra-fine tannins, flawless balance, and a regal, age-worthy style that has so much to love. It, however, is not going to be for the instant gratification crowd and this actually shut down pretty quickly with air. I would hide bottle for 4-6 years and it s going to cruise over the following two decades in cold cellars.
A blend of top lots from both Fortuna and Weitz the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label is a powerful dense wine with imposing fruit and equally strong tannic clout. Blackberry jam graphite leather bittersweet chocolate sweet spice and licorice infuse the palate with tons of depth. The 2021 is a big ample wine built on textural voluptuousness and sheer power. - By Antonio Galloni on December 2023 Peter Heitz turned out a stellar set of 2021s at Turnbull. The wines are rich opulent and ready to give pleasure with minimal cellaring. Yields are down 10-20% which is quite modest relative to most properties. The 2021s spent 20 months in barrel 30% for the top wines down to about 10% for the more accessible offerings. For my palate the Oakville Reserve in particular really hits a sweet spot of quality and value.
