Jeb Dunnuck: 99 Points

In comparison to the Calarcadia Vineyard, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Heritage Ridge Vineyard is more inward and backward, with incredible purity in its cassis, scorched earth, lead pencil, graphite, and rocky, crushed stone-like minerality. Coming all from a tiny parcel on the estate and Clone 22 Cabernet Sauvignon, this dense, powerful, full-bodied, absolutely sensational 2021 needs to be forgotten for 5-7 years (a decade might be better) and will evolve for 30-40 years. Following this and the Calarcadia Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon over the coming decades will be vinous nirvana. Hats off to the team at the Vineyardist for truly remarkable, world-class wines.

The Wine Independent: 99 Points

The 2021 Heritage Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple in color. After a swirl or two evocative notes of redcurrant preserves freshly crushed blackberries and warm cassis emerge plus wafts of lilacs black olives underbrush and rosehip tea. The full-bodied palate is tightly knit with very fine-grained tannins and bright shiny fruit finishing long and shimmery.

Vinous: 96 Points

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Heritage Ridge is another super-expressive wine from The Vineyardist. It emerges from a steep southeast-facing parcel planted on red Aiken soils. Medium in body yet deep the 2021 marries power with elegance. Graphite lavender spice crème de cassis and espresso meld into the polished refined finish framed by grippy tannins. - By Antonio Galloni on December 2023 This is a fine set of new and upcoming releases from The Vineyardist. The 2021s seem to point to a more refined style than in the past. It?s hard to say if that is the vintage conscious choice or maybe a bit of both. Bottling earlier certainly seems to have helped preserve freshness. I expect the 2021s will blossom with a few years in bottle. Readers should note that the Lava Terrace was not bottled in 2021. I also found quite a bit to like in the embryonic 2022s.
