Rose petals and dried cherries give way to flowery underbrush and savory spice as the 2022 Rosso di Montalcino slowly unwinds in the glass. Pure and lifted in style this boasts a core of vividly ripe red berry fruits that swirl beneath an air of violet inner florals. Saline mineral tones mount through the close. Blood orange and spice hints linger as the 2022 tapers off long and gently tannic. This leaves the mouth salivating. Frankly it's hard to just taste and not drink the 2022 Rosso from Salvioni. - By Eric Guido on July 2024 It?s always amazing to taste the Rosso of Salvioni. It?s one of the few wines that communicates both power and refinement along with drinkability contrasted by the potential for cellaring. The 2022 is no different. It takes the best attributes of the year warm vintage fruit with complexities imparted by the late-season diurnal shifts and cooler temperatures. Due to the dry warmth of the vintage Salvioni decided to refine the 2022 Rosso entirely in stainless steel a practice they've periodically adopted over the last several years. The Salvioni vineyard is located in a very special pocket of terroir in Montalcino just south of the town yet completely off the beaten path. Each time I taste this wine it transports me there in a heartbeat.

On the savory palate notes of white pepper star anise and truffle accent a juicy black cherry core. Polished tannins provide seamless support. Drink through 2028.
