Aromas of pear white flowers crisp yellow orchard fruit and oatmeal introduce Jobard's 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots Dessus a medium to full-bodied satiny layered wine that displays greater mid-palate volume and texture than the lieux-dits bottlings that preceded it?though this is still a decidedly tensile precise wine in keeping with Jobard's style. As I wrote last year Rémi Jobard is a softly spoken perfectionist who produces beautifully pure and vibrant expressions of Meursault that merit considerable interest. As readers may know Jobard took over from his father Charles in 1996 and where Charles produced ripe rich wines Rémi has evolved in a decidedly different direction: today the wines see two winters on the lees and élevage is largely in Stockinger foudres. The result is a precise almost minimalist style that produces Meursault of unusual transparency: classy wines that evolve slowly in bottle. 2017 which I revisited from bottle is an excellent vintage at this address simultaneously tensile but giving in profile and they come warmly recommended. Jobard's 2018s are a little suppler and rounder and they will drink well sooner than his serious 2017s.

(from .50 ha parcel). A pungent and distinctly cool nose offers up notes of green fruit grapefruit herbal tea and the classic hazelnut nuances. There is excellent size weight and punch to the larger-scaled flavors that possess evident power and muscle on the robust and persistent if slightly warm finish. (90-92)/2025+
