Wine Advocate: 95 Points
Still backwards and closed yet with undeniable potential the 2010 St Joseph is easily the deepest richest wine in the retrospect and needs to be forgotten for anther 2-3 years. Some coaxing yields black black fruits lots of minerality and a touch of spring flowers and it possesses full-bodied richness building ripe tannin and a great finish.
Vinous: 94 Points
Bright purple. Black and blue fruits on the highly perfumed nose with notes of star anise potpourri and cracked pepper adding complexity. Stains the palate with intense spice-driven black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors picking up sweetness and floral nuances with air. Fine-grained tannins give shape and grip to a strikingly long focused and mineral-accented finish. This wine's balance and mineral expression is something else.
