By Neal Martin The 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Chevrieres 1er Cru comes from Chaintré located upon east-facing soils where fruit tends to ripen more slowly. It has a subtle nose that demands some coaxing almost reluctantly revealing Clementine green apple and blood orange. The palate is well-balanced with a slightly honeyed opening. This displays fine concentration one of the most complex Premier Crus from Merlin and there is impressive persistency here. Excellent. (Drink between 2024-2038)
A vague whiff of exotic fruit lurks in the background of the ripe white orchard fruit citrus confit and soft floral nuances that are trimmed in just enough wood influence to mention. The middleweight flavors are quite plush yet there is no heaviness thanks to the fine intensity all wrapped in an equally bone-dry and sneaky long finish that possesses the best balance in the range. (Drink starting 2027)
