Picked on September 17 the 2022 Bourgogne Aligoté Raisins Dorés exhibits aromas of sweet yellow orchard fruit white flowers and buttery pastry followed by a medium-bodied rich and fleshy palate that's satiny and layered. The 2022 vintage was showing well during my annual barrel tasting chez Lafarge emphasizing the charming pretty side of the year. The team began picking on August 26 another early harvest. As usual reds were destemmed in some cases manually and élevage is taking place in predominantly used barrels with the Lafarge's habitual racking with aeration. The result is wines with a resolutely old-school style that have a good track record of evolving gracefully in the cellar. Published: Jan 18 2024

Vinous

The 2022 Bourgogne Aligoté Raisins Dorés has a very pure bouquet quite entrancing with scents of honeysuckle quince and Japanese yuzu. Lovely definition. The palate is well-balanced with a spicy entry. It?s a lively Aligoté with a touch of pepperiness towards the finish. Delightful. (Drink between 2024-2030)

Burghound

Bright aromas of green apple spice and just sliced citrus lead to sleek delicious and lightly stony flavors that retain good cut on the chiseled very dry and sneaky long finale. Lovely and one to consider if you enjoy aligoté. (Drink starting 2026)

Decanter

The Aligoté from ancient vines at Lafarge is always a delight; the 2022 vintage is near the top of the range with marvellous concentration and a fragrant aroma of gooseberry green apple and tarragon. The wine has abundant fresh acidity but at the same time there is impressive ripeness. Lafarge picked on 17 September. After fermentation on native yeasts half in old barrels half in concrete it is finishing its maturation in large neutral oak uprights. This wine will drink on release and will continue improving for a decade if one has the patience to wait. (Drink between 2024-2030)
