The 2015 Boca is glorious. Freshly cut flowers sweet red berries mint pine and sweet red cherry are some of the notes that grace this vivid exquisitely beautiful wine. As always the Boca is taut and wonderfully vibrant with salivating acids floral aromatics and tons of energy. If the 2015 fleshes out a bit with aging it could very well turn out to be even better than this note suggests. -- Antonio Galloni

This vintage was not part of the official Le Piane Boca retrospective but I had the chance to taste the wine during my visit to the estate. The 2015 Boca is a charming wine with soothing and seductive fruit exuberance. Compared to the 2016 vintage (which I tasted from barrel) this 2015 edition is slightly more accessible and open. That's the characteristic of this vintage. It shows soft roundness and ripeness with extremely intact aromas of wild berry licorice and candied raspberry. This historic Le Piane retrospective took place at the Ristorante Pinocchio in late September 2018 in the town of Borgomanero in Northern Italy. A group of wine writers and other guests tasted though 21 wines spanning seven decades. I was among them. The blend used in the Boca appellation in Piedmont is 85% Nebbiolo and 15% Vespolina.
