Vinous: 92-94 Points
The 2022 Santenay Le Passetemps 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet similar to the Le Beaurepaire a little chalkier perhaps mainly blackberry and bilberry fruit tightly knit. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit and slightly more cracked black pepper. Good density firmer backbone with impressive density towards the finish. Give this 4-5 years in bottle if you can. Two barrels made (due to expand in the future...hoorah!) (Drink between 2027-2042)

Wine Advocate: 92-94 Points
The 2022 Santenay 1er Cru Le Passetemps has turned out especially well offering up a deep bouquet of dark berries orange zest rose petals spices and incense followed by a medium to full-bodied rich and layered palate its unctuous core of fruit framed by powdery tannins concluding with a long resonant finish. In the August 2021 Week 2 Issue of The Wine Advocate I devoted a feature to the wines and work of Jean-Marc Vincent so I direct readers to that piece rather than attempt to reprise all its minutiae here. High-density plantings of massal selections high canopies that are either hedged late or interwoven by hand soils cultivated using small caterpillar-tracked engines instead of tractors long macerations with significant percentages of whole bunches and long élevage on the lees?these are just some of the pieces of the puzzle. If Jean-Marc's 2020s set a new benchmark for contemporary Santenay his 2022s come close to rivaling them: complex textural whites of substance and structure and serious sapid reds that will reward patience.
