Bright and fresh up front with sanguine and savory notes mixed with dried lavender damson plum puree and gently steeped black cherry fruit. A smoldering cast iron note runs through the finish pulling the fruit along with it and leaving behind a very terroir-driven impression. Best from 2023 through 2036. 150 cases made 5 cases imported.
The 2017 Cote Rotie la Landonne (tasted from tank prior to bottling) reveals the lieu-dit's signature notes of mocha and roasted meat. It's full-bodied rich and velvety with a long licorice-tinged finish. It's not fruity per se but it is loaded with glycerol and blows away the 2016.
Dark purple. Pungent mineral-tinged cherry and cassis aromas are complemented by suggestions of black pepper succulent flowers and cola. Taut and structured on entry and then broader in the midpalate offering concentrated spice- and mineral-laced dark berry and bitter cherry flavors sweetened by a sexy floral pastille accent. Shows sharp delineation on the youthfully tannic finish which lingers with impressive floral-driven tenacity. (Drink between 2025-2035)
