This wine boasts a lovely lemon peel aroma with spice smoke and flint nuances. The texture is firm and fresh with a dynamic tension that carries the wine to an impressively long finish and suggests it will age well. The grapes are from 0.33 hectares in Au Chaniot along the southern edge of Folatières next to Caillerets; they are crushed and fermented in primarily used casks to produce this wine that has the richness of the domaine's Bouchères but with more minerality and vibrant sparkle. (Drink between 2028 - 2055)
From the Au Chaniot sector. Clear fresh lemon and lime. A little extra density on the bouquet slightly more in white fruit but not without a floral overlay plenty of little nuances. A subtle wine which will definitely grow on us.
The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru has a similar bouquet to the La Garenne albeit with more intensity and slightly more tension. The palate is well-balanced with a citrus-fresh entry hints of apricot and quince and a dab of lemongrass leaving a spicy note on the tongue after the wine departed. Very persistent on the finish. Excellent. (Drink between 2025 - 2045)
Cask sample. Tense and linear. Plenty of drive here with purity of fruit and a fine line of minerality to finish. Just a little one-dimensional at the moment this will gain complexity with more bottle age. (AWH) (Drink between 2026 - 2032)
