Some time ago Vincent Dureuil began replanting his holdings in Mercurey with higher-quality massal selections of Pinot Noir and with the 2020 Mercurey those new plantings are beginning to bear fruit. The result as I remarked to Dureuil is the best Mercurey he has produced to date exhibiting aromas of smoky berries sweet soil tones and spices followed by a medium to full-bodied palate that's more elegant and structurally refined than previous renditions.
