The 2021 Volnay Les Lurets 1er Cru has an airy perfumed rose-petal-tinged bouquet with wild strawberry and raspberry fruit. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied and quite firm with strict tannins crunchy red fruit and a dash of black pepper towards its almost Pommard-like finish. Give it a couple of years in bottle. Three barrels were produced. (Drink between 2024 - 2034).
Jasper Morris: 89-91 Points
Clean pale purple. The bouquet is less floral than the Beaune but has a pleasing purity. Starts to build a bit more. A trace remains of reduction but the brisk red fruit surrounds it. Good length but you sense the tender style of the vintage. Drink from 2025-2028.
