2022 Volnay Les Mitans 1er Cru has a very focused bouquet again quite a lively bouquet with black cherries sous-bois and crushed stone. The 1/3 whole clusters work well here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fine acidity. It?s lively and animated with a very slight lactic note towards the finish that fans out in confident fashion. Pinot fin on SO4 rootstock few bunches gets ripe quickly so able to do 100% whole bunch vinification. Mid purple quite angular the whole bunch style takes over with the white pepper and the crushed strawberries but the finish is both finely drawn and very long.
