This pleasant approachable wine is a superb introduction to the Trapet style with its perfumed raspberry and pomegranate fruit aromas and a hint of spice. The texture is a bit light but the palate has rewarding complexity and a supple balance that lingers on the palate. The vines were originally planted in the garden of the family house in the 1950s. The house now belongs a cousin of the Trapets and they purchase the fruit. This will drink well on release and over the next several years. (Drink between 2024 - 2030) By Charles Curtis MW
The 2022 Côte de Nuits-Villages Meix Fringuet exhibits aromas of cherries berries and plum preserve followed by a medium-bodied tangy palate that unites sweet fruit with racy acidity in a style reminiscent of the 2020 vintage. by William Kelley
Vines from the 1950s. belonging to a cousin. An attractive mid purple. Quite intense on the nose roses and dark raspberries red fleshed fruit vivid throughout with good acidity. The palate is fresher than the nose suggests.
A more deeply pitched nose combines notes of plum the sauvage more evident earth and a hint of pepper. The delicious and moderately robust medium weight flavors terminate in a rustic finish that displays slightly better depth and length. (Drink starting 2027) By Allen Meadows
The 2022 Côte de Nuits Village Meix Fringuet picked on September 7 has a low-key nose that only gradually opens in the glass - a little introspective at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit touches of cassis and maybe just a little saccharine on the finish? Early drinking. By Neal Martin
