(Domaine Roulot Chardonnay Meursault 1er Cru Clos des Bouchères Burgundy France White) Forward lush aromas of pear nectarine and linden flowers ? much riper than most in this vintage. The texture is plump and round yet there is the vibrant acidity of 2021. Possesses an almost unheard-of balance with freshness to spare and 13% potential alcohol without chaptalisation. The grapes come from the magnificent clos that Roulot has farmed since the René Manuel deal in 2010 and which lie in the centre of the appellation. Located near Gouttes d?Or (and similar in style) this is among the jewels in the Roulot portfolio. (Drink between 2030 - 2060)
(Domaine Roulot Meursault "Clos des Bouchères" 1er Cru White) Here too there is enough reduction to flatten the underlying fruit. There is a highly attractive sense of underlying tension to the beautifully detailed middleweight flavors that dance across the palate while delivering excellent length on the chiseled bone-dry and impeccably well-balanced finale. This youthfully austere effort could use better depth but that more should develop is basically a given. This harmonious even Zen-like effort is also strikingly good. (Drink starting 2039)
Pretty and clean lemon colour. The discreet nose suggests finesse rather than weight. Then opens out on the palate to deliver a classic with that up front charm and discreet puppyish texture of top Bouchères. Really fine at the end an exceptionally classy wine. Drink from 2027-2034.
(Domaine Guy Roulot Meursault Clos des Bouchères 1er Cru White) The 2021 Meursault Clos des Bouchères 1er Cru sports some reduction on the nose. Blind yes I might mistake for the gaff down the road (Coche-Dury). The palate is very well-balanced with a lick of salinity on the entry. This is an extremely capable Meursault that is very poised and mineral-driven with a sustained finish. (Drink between 2027 - 2052)
