This impressive wine is densely packed with substance but slightly closed initially but flavours of cassis and mulberry with hints of earth and smoke open up on the palate. The silky texture bodes well for the hedonistic heft on the palate. The grapes come from three-quarters of a hectare in a parcel that runs the length of the climat between Trapet Père et Fils and Faiveley. The grapes are mainly fermented as whole clusters and gently extracted before ageing in casks with a moderate proportion of new wood. (Drink between 2032-2070)
Attractive light to mid purple. There is some opulence from ripe fruit on the nose. Starts well on the palate and really builds with a lovely freshness to what is evidently entirely ripe fruit. Never more than medium bodied yet with intensity especially at the back of the palate. Almost cerebral and very persistent.
A perfumed spicy and cool nose is comprised by ripe aromas of plum dark raspberry violet and forest floor hints. The medium-bodied flavors are a lovely combination of power energy and richness while exuding an almost aggressive minerality on the youthfully austere very firm and beautifully balanced finale. This could use better depth but that should be a simple matter of patience. (Drink starting 2034)
dThe 2022 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has a well-defined and typically Latricières nose: a bit backward even aloof yet with attractive cola dark berry scents and a hint of Clementines. The medium-bodied palate has a citrus-fresh entry and a fine bead of acidity. It is quite linear and correct (like this Grand Cru tends to be) finishing with a touch of curry leaf. Very fine even if not the most complex example this vintage. (Drink between 2027-2049)
