The 2017 Pommard Les Chanlins 1er Cru which has 5% whole clusters and was matured in 50% new oak has quite an intense bouquet offering more black than red fruit and just a touch of tobacco in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin spicier than the Argillières and the finish is slightly chalky. This will need a little more time than Parent’s other 2017s.
vA mildly toasty nose surrounds the cool red currant cherry and raspberry-scented aromas. There is good minerality and excellent punch to the nicely detailed and delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess a bit better mid-palate density all wrapped in a solidly persistent finish where once again the wood resurfaces.
