Jasper Morris: 92-95 Points
Clear pale colour. This shows the stones and less the warmth. Broadly based white fruit sensual a little toast from the barrel low to medium acidity while all the qualities of the vineyard have been harnessed. Fine length.
Decanter: 94 Points
The Domaine des Lambrays acquired 0.36 hectares of the Clos du Cailleret from Chartron in the 1990s. Along with their even smaller slice of Folatières this is the white wine of the domaine. Jack Devauges and his team have succeeded marvellously with this bottling boasting grapefruit and ripe nectarine aromas with hints of flint smoke and spice. The texture deftly balances extract and fresh acidity to good effect driving the wine to a lingering finish. Although marked by the maturation in 50% new casks with three to five years this will integrate seamlessly and should age well. (Drink between 2025-2045)
Burghound: 91-93 Points
A more classic nose freely reveals its aromas of white flowers apple pear citrus and soft spice hints. Here too the medium weight flavors are decidedly rich but with better vibrancy partially thanks to the even more prominent mineral nuances on the noticeably more complex balanced firmer and impressively persistent finish. This is really quite classy and a wine that could reasonably be enjoyed young but also with up to a decade of keeping. (Drink starting 2029)
Vinous: 92 Points
The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Clos du Cailleret 1er Cru is pretty similar on the nose compared to its showing in barrel: more delineation than the Les Folatières hints of popcorn crustacea and ginger. The palate has a pleasant bite and a keen thread of acidity though it just needs a little more mineralité on the finish as I opined before. (Drink between 2025-2038)
