Earthier and slightly riper aromas include those of violet plum and a hint of underbrush. The racy and markedly more mineral-driven middleweight flavors possess good detail that carries over to the balanced youthfully austere and mildly firmer finale. (Drink starting 2027)
The 2022 Maranges Vieilles Vignes comes from two lieux-dits from a massal selection of 50-year-old vines 40% whole bunches. The nose is refined and understated: mainly black fruit brown spices and a subtle marine element. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit slightly brittle in texture with a sapid marine-influenced finish. Fine. (Drink between 2025 - 2034)
A darker crimson purple. The nose is a little more reticent followed by a weight both of fruit and some ripe tannins to build structure. A touch of blood orange with the raspberry.
