Wine Advocate: 96 Points

The flagship wine from Cordero di Montezemolo is the 2019 Barolo Enrico VI (with 6200 bottles hitting the market now). This organic wine is made from a special selection of fruit at 300 meters in elevation from the Villero cru in Castiglione Falletto. It reveals a slow and long presentation of aromas with blackcurrant cassis grilled herb and crushed rose. These delicate aromas are presented in the context of a concentrated full-bodied Nebbiolo that is built for long cellar aging. Alberto Cordero di Montezemolo and his family are venturing outside the Barolo appellation and have recently acquired additional vineyards in Rodello and Sinio with high-elevation vineyards to make Alta Langa and white wines. It will be exciting to see these new expressions in what is one of Barolo's classic wine portfolios. Published: Aug 24 2023

James Suckling: 96 Points

The rose flower violet dark berry and cedar aromas are impressive on the nose. Full-bodied with chewy tannins that are powerful and muscular. Excellent length. Classic Barolo that needs at least four or five years to soften. From organically grown grapes. Try after 2027. 07/23

Vinous: 94 Points

The 2019 Barolo Enrico VI is a super-classic wine from this site. Spice menthol and a whole range of balsamic inflections open first before the firm Villero tannins kick in. I imagine the 2019 is going to need a number of years to be at its best but it is another stellar wine in this lineup up from Cordero di Montezemolo. Alberto Cordero di Montezemolo presented a stellar set of 2019 Barolos. The wines spent about 15 days on the skins with quick malolactic fermentations that followed. As always the two crus are bottled in the early side and show a bit more French oak influence than the Monfalletto. Speaking of the Monfalletto it is unusually boisterous in 2019. This is another highly successful vintage for one of La Morra's leading estates. - By Antonio Galloni on November 2022
