There's even more subtleness perfume and elegance in the single-vineyard 2022 La Breña compared with La Breña 1er; this has more finesse and precision and it's even more fine-boned. It comes from a 0.25-hectare plot with a different soil than the rest of the lieu-dit located at 1.05 meters above sea level on degraded sandy granite soils very close to their Rumbo al Norte single vineyard. This has the completeness of the wines from Villanueva de Ávila that are elegant and floral but serious and mineral with a narrow palate and very fine tannins. 934 bottles were filled in May 2024. I tasted wines from 2022 (a more Mediterranean and intense year) and 2023 (a cooler year of elegance freshness and precision) with a perfect cool September and also rain that improved the quality of the year after a very warm August. 2022 is their last vintage of the El Reventón single-vineyard wine when they started planting new vines and building their new winery. 2023 is the first year vinified in the brand-new winery. There will be more changes in 2024: continuing the plantation of more vines downsizing (less regional wine and more village mostly from purchased grapes) and developing their farm in the estate around Rumbo al Norte. In 2022 they are extending the élevage of the single-vineyard crus Iruelas Umbrías Rey Moro and Rumbo al Norte. And they see the need for new projects in Gredos and to attract people to come and make wine in the region. They see it as a threat for the region. There are only 400 hectares in the DO Cebreros (42 hectares planted in the last five years nothing in the previous 40) but only 150 produced grapes last year. The Gredos region needs to be developed.
