An expressive and beautifully layered nose combines notes of acacia blossom lemon-lime and a whiff of mineral reduction. The beautifully textured and more concentrated medium-bodied flavors are also finer while delivering excellent length on the solidly powerful bone-dry and youthfully austere finale. This could use better depth but it is clearly quite tightly wrapped such that it should have no trouble aging gracefully. (Drink starting 2030).
New in 2022. 65 year old vines enough to make three barrels of which one is new. Fairly oaky but also with a dense concentrated fruit. A lime intensity with considerable weight does not yet quite flow through but this is the style of the Domaine wanting to make tightly wound wines.
bhThe 2022 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru comes from older vines planted in 1948. It has a well-defined nose although perversely I am more taken with the Vignes Blanches at the moment. The aromatics need a pep talk. The palate is more promising with tangy orange rind and tangerine on the entry fine acidity and good weight. It needs to muster more mineralité towards the finish though. Fine. (Drink between 2026 - 2040)
