This has plenty of ripe black-fruit aromas and a touch of savory character even a hint of olives. Beautifully crafted the balance of generosity and freshness make this very attractive. Lively finish with a delicate touch of moderately dry tannins. Drink or hold.
The 2016 Jean Faure is composed of 50% Cabernet Franc 45% Merlot and 5% Malbec. Deep garnet colored it is a little closed to begin soon giving way to profound plum preserves Morello cherries and black raspberry scents followed by hints of charcoal licorice pencil shavings and fragrant earth. The medium-bodied palate delivers tight-knit black and red fruits with a firm grainy texture and oodles of freshness finishing long and layered.
The 2016 Jean Faure is a gorgeous wine endowed with considerable near and medium-term appeal. Raspberry jam leather smoke espresso and exotic floral/savory notes all race through this perfumed expressive Saint-Émilion. The Cabernet Franc is particularly expressive here. - By Antonio Galloni on December 2018
Another Saint Emilion that is better in bottle than it was in barrel the wine now offers deep juicy plums espresso licorice truffle flowers. Silky elegant fresh and lively with a lifted dried red pit fruit and floral finish give this a few years before popping a cork and it will show even better. - Jeff Leve The Wine Cellar Insider
A pretty style with elegant plum and cassis notes infused with rooibos tea dried anise and sanguine accents. The youthfully taut finish features light cedar bay leaf and chalk notes that should meld with the fruit after modest cellaring. Best from 2021 through 2031.
