By Andy Howard MW Chateau Clarke 50th anniversary 3/30/2023 (See more on Decanter...)95 points (Château Clarke Merlot Listrac-Médoc Bordeaux France Red) Still youthful on the nose a little closed but huge potential. Sweet ripe concentrated dark fruit. Plush in texture and cut with ample acidity. Silky precise and fresh tannins. Fine and a long future ahead. The first year with Fabrice Darmaillacq and Eric Boissenot in charge and a vintage with a very wet and mild winter followed by a cool wet spring before a dry summer. (Drink between 2024-2036)
Currant and cherry aromas are underlined with iron and rust. Medium-to full-bodied firm and chewy yet polished and poised. Tension and style at the end. A blend of 70 per cent merlot and 30 per cent cabernet sauvignon. Better in 2022.
