(63% cabernet sauvignon 30% merlot 4% petit verdot and 3% cabernet franc; 3.79 pH; 12.9% alcohol): Dark ruby with a pale rim. Strong notes of torrefaction initially; with aeration the nose turns richer and more complex with deep aromas of red cherry blackcurrant spicy plum and minerals. Enters the mouth big and dense but very suave with very concentrated red cherry and blackcurrant flavors that coat the palate and linger persistently. Stands out for its fine-grained tannins but I was most impressed by this nicely balanced wine's utterly seamless delivery of fruit and light touch. A major success for the vintage. The grapes were harvested between September 20 and October 9. - By Ian D'Agata on March 2014
