A light bright ruby purple. The bouquet is quite perfumed but perhaps less evident than En la Rue de Vergy. Now the perfume emerges further. Low pH here which then shows in the liveliness of the palate. Even a little austere to finish. Little red berries. I suspect there is a lot more to come from this wine.
Clair's trilogy of high-altitude communal bottlings concludes with the 2022 Vosne-Romanée Les Champs Perdrix an ample and fleshy wine that offers up aromas of sweet raspberries raw cocoa and spices. Medium to full-bodied racy and saline it concludes with chalky grip that will soften with bottle age.
A strikingly floral-suffused nose speaks of a variety of spice nuances including exotic jasmine tea. I very much like the mid-palate texture of the intensely mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors that display focused power and precision on the dusty and austere finale that is presently a bit grippy though I suspect it will round out with time in bottle and my projected range offers the benefit of the doubt that it will. (Drink starting 2030)
The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Le Champ Perdrix showed some reduction on the nose but there seems to be ample quite floral fruit in situ. The fresh vibrant palate offers dark cherries mixed with citrus fruit. It is focused and tensile with an energetic finish and a touch of sour cherry on the aftertaste. Very fine. (Drink between 2026 - 2040)
