From Clos Poirier in the centre of the appellation. Mid lemon with a lime streak. A touch of graphite on the nose as the fruit is biding its time. Proper concentration here with good acidity at the back but this is a Bâtard that does not want to shout out its qualities too early in life. No doubting the power here but discretion too. Really a very long finish. - Jasper Morris 11/2023
The 2022 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a taut delineated bouquet with crushed stone infusing the green apple and yellow plum fruit. Very focused and it gains intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a beautiful line of acidity that slices through the quite concentrated citrus fruit. The oak (two one-year-old barrels) remains politely in the background. It fans out wonderfully on the finish. Exquisite. (Drink between 2026 - 2050). -Neal Martin 01/24
(Domaine Alex Moreau Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru White) Once again there is a vague suggestion of the exotic present on the cool and pretty essence of pear floral jasmine tea and crushed star anise wisps. The enveloping concentrated and powerful big-bodied flavors also brim with sappy dry extract while delivering superb length on the balanced and highly complex finale. This is excellent and while clearly a Bâtard that is built-to-age it could reasonably be approached after 7 to 8 years. (Drink starting 2034). - Allen Meadows 06/24
Cask sample Deep-mid lemon. Apple citrus and pie dough. Real texture and weight. This is no skinny Bâtard. Full-bodied with phenolic charge on the cheeks and fresh acidity leading the long finish. Broad consistent and complex. (MH) (Drink between 2028 - 2040).
