Champagne Louis Roederer’s historic Cristal released after twenty years of cellaring!
Under the leadership of Frederic Rouzaud and Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon, Roederer continues to innovate and lead the evolution of the Champagne region. Never before have the wines at Roederer been as consistently good as they have been these last fifteen years. Frederic Rouzaud and Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon are a collaborative force that is very thoughtfully and slowly reshaping what it means to make Champagne.
Roederer, during the Rouzaud and Lecaillon tenure, has witnessed a renaissance. The quality went from very good to exceptional across the entire range. For decades the Roederer team worked on the creation of a library program for their iconic Cristal - with the intention to showcase the extreme ageability of this historic cuvee. Akin to the P2 and P3 program at Dom Perignon, Cristal Vinotheque is Cristal aged for an extended period of time on the cork before disgorgement and dosage, along with further aging in bottle after dosage in the cellar at Roederer.
The result is a perfectly aged Cristal that is released at the beginning of its apex with a peak period that will last in the cellar for at least two decades. These are epic expressions of Cristal that are absolutely refined and luxurious with power and depth.
