The Macallan Archival Series: Commemorating the legendary advertising campaigns of The Macallan single malt whisky from the 1970s, 80s and 90s that took The Macallan name to a wider audience for the first time. Macallan describes the archival series as one that “celebrates and revisits The Macallan’s original print, press, and film advertising campaign; mapping the story of The Macallan from a remote farmstead on the River Spey to a whisky that is enjoyed around the world”. First released in 2015, the series will comprise of 24 individual releases.
This Complete Set Includes 7 bottles - Folio 1 through 7.
The first 6 released commemorated the print Macallan adverts that were featured in the Times newspaper. The adverts were designed by Creative Director David Holmes and advert copywriter Nick Salaman and 250 were produced over the 3 decades. Initially featured on the back page next to the crossword, the print adverts got bigger and more creative over time.
Folio 7
The seventh release in The Macallan Archival Series explores one of our legendary advertising campaigns from 1986, ‘The Boffins Baffled’, which tells the story of a party of scientists who were left positively baffled when asked why The Macallan was so special.
Each folio release comes with a hardback, illustrated book with a history of the Macallan and its advertisements. The bottles are sold in a book shaped presentation tin .
