Champagne Ruinart

Champagne Ruinart and Frédéric Panaïotis have had numerous exciting new releases from the historic caves in Reims.  In 2022, we saw the release of the 2010 Dom Ruinart, the first vintage that Panaïotis had complete control over.  Howevever, Panaïotis had been dropping hints left and right of how the cellars are full of new experiments and new wines.  The limited range at Ruinart is poised for expansion and in 2023 we were introduced to the Brut Nature Blanc Singulier!

The Brut Nature NV Blanc Singulier 2018 Edition was a marvelous addition to the range at Ruinart.  Unfortunately, very limited, the Blanc Singulier is a singular expression of Chardonnay, revealed by the changing climate, as stated front and center on the bottle.  Today, we are excited to announce that the highly acclaimed and lauded Blanc Singulier 2019 Edition is now in-stock!

This champagne represents one of the more interesting propositions that we have offered recently and is destined to be a study of Champagne vintages with minimal intervention.  Here we have a 100% Chardonnay from another extreme and diverse vintage of Champagne.  Additionally, 23% percent of the wine is not from 2019 but from a perpetual reserve.  As opposed to storing older vintages separately, with perpetual reserve, the older wines are stored together in one tank.  The newer vintage gets added to the old in a way very similar to a solera system in Sherry.  Note that this a Brut Nature or zero dosage.  This growing trend has become more and more prevalent as warmer temperatures lead to higher degrees of grape ripening and lower levels of acid.  The addition of sugar in the dosage is intended to balance the amount of acidity in the champagne to bring it into harmony.  In Blanc Singulier, none was needed, allowing for the vintage character to define the wine.
