Chablis Overachievers
The Dynamic Duo

For decades the debate of Dauvissat versus Raveneau has been a constant amongst lovers of White Burgundy. Today, the Chablis debate takes a turn to Moreau-Naudet versus Eleni & Edouard Vocoret when it comes to debating style and bang for your buck in Chablis.

These two dynamic and fairly young estates are turning out exceptional wine at very advantageous prices.

Moreau-Naudet, affectionately known as the “hand -Chablis”, is an expression of Chablis inspired by Vincent Dauvissat and the Sauvignon Blancs of Didier Dagueneau. Started by the young couple of Stephan and Virginie Moreau, the label burst onto the Chablis stage and immediately caught the attention of many for its purity, quality and affordability. Unfortunately, Stephan left us way too soon and the wines are now crafted by Virginie and the couple's longtime friend and assistant winemaker/cellarmaster Coco. 

Eleni & Edouard Vocoret are Chablis’s other exceptionally dynamic couple whose wines immediately garnered tremendous praise and attention. Edouard is from the historic Vocoret family in Chablis who owns countless parcels of key sites across the region and produces Domaine Vocoret et Fils. After a stint working abroad in New Zealand for harvest where the two met, Edouard returned to Chablis with Eleni to begin to work the 5 hectares of vineyards that he was inheriting from the larger family domaine. With a smaller, more focused and artisan mindset, Eleni and Edouard converted their parcels to their take on sustainable farming and looked to produce the finest village level single vineyard expressions of the region.

These are two stellar examples of the vast improvements and diversity that is now available in Chablis today from who are surely going to be the biggest names that everyone loves to debate which is their favorite.
