First Mass Offer

00 Wines burst onto the wine scene in 2018. I recall visiting the Willamette Valley to attend the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Charity Auction and it was there I was first introduced to Kathryn and Chris Hermann, owners of 00 Wines. Kathryn and Chris were not participating officially in the auction at that time, as their labor of love and home winemaking project only turned into a professional wine brand in 2015 with their first commercial release. 

As luck would have it, this was a chance meeting thanks to a local friend from Portland. His enthusiasm for 00 Wines and his desire for a few of us to try the 2016 Chardonnay EGW was so strong that he somehow talked Kathryn into bringing a bottle for him to the post-auction gathering we were both attending.

The wine lived up to the excitement and high expectations that were laid out to me. 

Post auction, the whispers in the wine community about 00 Wines seemed to be all around me. The following spring, I again had the chance to catch up with Kathryn and hear more about the 00 Wines. By then, there was much more talk in the wine community regarding 00 Wines and the Wine Advocate had published some in-depth reviews. However, distribution of the wines in New York was still not available and overall production was still very limited.

Five years later and Morrell is now able to make our first broad public offer on 00 Wines. The past three years we have had extremely limited quantities to offer and this we finally have just enough to safely put out this offer. Quantities are still very limited. The Hermanns have slowly grown their production and expanded their range of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir at 00 Wines. 

Over the past few years, the press has been infatuated with 00 Wines. The bounty of extreme high scores and praise continues to roll in. White Burgundy collectors are constantly slipping 00 Wines into their tasting groups blind tastings to fool their friends and make converts. However, let’s not forget about the Pinot Noirs that do not have the heavy demand of the Chardonnay but have achieved remarkable pedigree and praise. All in all, 00 Wines is a success story of a couple creating a winery just 10 years ago that has captured Chardonnay and Pinot Noir fans' admiration and, most importantly, a place in their cellars.
