This attractive wine has a lovely ruby colour and an aroma fragrant with ripe cherry rose petals and spice. The fruit has a distinctly sweet edge on the palate yet it does not lack structure or grip. The grapes come from a 1.8ha parcel planted partly with massale selection and partly with high-quality Pinot Fin. Great effort was exerted to manage the heat and drought ? sorting for sunburn was a big worry in a vintage like 2022 ? and by all indications they have done it well. (Drink between 2025 - 2035)
The 2022 Mercurey Sazenay 1er Cru has a little more cohesion and fruit intensity than the Les Saumont because of the south-facing orientation and older vines. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins quite plush red cherry and strawberry fruit and a light spiciness towards the finish. Fine. (Drink between 2025 - 2036)
An attractive mid purple. Also with energy on the nose cherries and strawberries rather lovely more in acidity than tannin at the back medium-bodied plus with attractive length.
