A classic vintage for Troplong Mondot.
The 2006 Troplong Mondot displays a magnificent, deep ruby color. A nose of red berry fruit with hints of toast followed by fruit kernels, almonds and finally a touch of menthol and liquorice that is characteristic of the terroir. Fruit, freshness and oak make up a harmonious balance on the nose. On the palate, there is red berry fruit again and lovely freshness, good structure and vigor, cherries and kirsch. A long, full wine: a great.

"A wine that succeeds in combining great depth of flavor and structure with an impressive array of flavors. On top of the tannins is juicy black fruit, cocoa, a welter of spice and ripeness. The acidity and new wood put the wine into a more modern style."
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (RP): 93
"Proprietress Christine Valette has turned out another exceptional performance. The 2006 Troplong Mondot is an impressive, powerful, broad, surprisingly masculine and deep effort. Its inky/blue/purple color is accompanied by an exceptional bouquet of powdered rock, blackberries, blueberries, spring flowers, and hints of camphor as well as espresso roast. The wine is full-bodied with a layered, multidimensional texture, sensational purity and structure, and elevated levels of tannin, concentration, and richness."
