The Vosgros is a beautifully tensile and complex Chablis that starts out with a bit more youthful austerity, but unfolds brilliantly with bottle age to deliver a racy, very complex and minerally expression of Chablis.
Burghound (BH): 90-93
"A very tight and quite reticent nose displays reluctant notes of tidal pool, lemon rind and green fruit. The rich, full-bodied and intense flavors possess fine mid-palate density that coats the mouth on the overtly austere and robust finish that is linear, tangy, clean and dry. As is also usually the case, this doesn't have the refinement or minerality of the Vaucoupin but there is more depth as well as more underlying material. This intensely energetic effort should be excellent in time."
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (RP): 90-92
"The 2011 Chablis Vosgros is another big wine with serious intensity and a big, broad shouldered frame. This, too, needs time to settle down, although Vosgros always has a certain burliness to it. Layers of fruit build to a huge, intense finish marked by the weight of the old vines. This is a decidedly dramatic, opulent wine, but also has excellent minerality."
Stephen Tanzer (ST): 92
"Fresh pineapple and exotic brown spices on the nose; smells like an infusion. Silky-sweet, seamless and concentrated, with fat stone fruit flavors supported by crushed rock and smoky oyster shell minerality. Nicely balanced from the start but will nonetheless need time to express itself. Finishes with rising, palate-dusting length and very good power for the vintage. Sexy and impressive"
