Cellar/Tasting Notes
Although it's about celebration for New Year's Eve, Champagne is also the default for romance and so go for the full cupid effect with Amour de Deutz, a cuvee from Deutz Champagne. Deutz is a house created in the 1830s by a couple of Germans and it was sold to Roederer a while back. The Amour de Deutz is a Blanc de Blancs, bright bubbly with a golden color and a taste of light fruit. The champagnes aren't as well known at the Roederer vintages but are at least as charming. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (RP): 94 "Bright hints of lemon, pears, pastry, white flowers and mint are beautifully woven together. This is a round, sensual Champagne that can be enjoyed now or cellared. Today it is firing on all cylinders, even if it is very young. The 2003 Amour de Deutz is 100% Chardonnay... Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023." |
