Cellar/Tasting Notes
A fragrant, flavorful, medium-bodied Champagne with elegance as the hallmark.br>
The story behind the wine
Brut non-vintage is always the expression of the House style and, as such, it is the signature champagne. Laurent-Perrier Brut’s style is defined by its very high proportion of Chardonnay which provides a natural purity, freshness and elegance. These essential characteristics, expressed in all our champagnes, are a good introduction to the spirit of Laurent-Perrier.
Blend
Only the best grapes are used for this champagne.
GRAPE VARIETALS: Chardonnay: 50%, Pinot Noir: 35 %, Pinot Meunier: 15 %.
CRUS:The blend is made from more than 55 individual crus or villages, with an average cru rating of 94%, on the echelle des crus, and up to 20% of reserve wines are also used, thus ensuring perfect consistency in the style.
Wine making and ageing
The Laurent Perrier Brut also benefits from ideal ageing in the cellars: three years minimum for a 75cl bottle, and four to five years for a magnum. Its balance and natural freshness are enhanced by a light dosage. After the dosage, the wines are kept in the cellar to rest for several months before shipment.
Sensorial characteristics
ASPECT: Pale gold in colour with a steady flow of fine and persistent bubbles.
AROMA: Delicate yet complex, fresh and well-balanced with hints of citrus
and white fruits.
TASTE: Well defined, subtly rounded with expressive flavours. The fruit
progressively emerges to reveal a finely balanced champagne displaying great
length on the finish.
Serving
Serve between 8°C and 10°C.
The combination of freshness and purity of the Laurent-Perrier Brut has
been a major factor in the success of champagne as an aperitif. Its citrus
and white fruit notes - such as vine peach - and its remarkable balance
supported by subtle bubbles make it the perfect Stephen Tanzer (ST): 90 "Deep aromas of citrus skin, smoke, minerals and spices, with a saline complexity. Ripe on entry, then dense and concentrated but pliant and very smooth. Leads with its strong, clear fruit tones of orange sorbet and lemon. Very ripe, accessible, well-balanced Champagne with excellent lingering fruit. In my tastings in recent years, this has consistently been among the best non-vintage brut bottlings from the major Champagne houses." |
