Cellar/Tasting Notes
Due to the small production, there will not be enough Opus 2009 to satisfy demand. Better buy your 2009 while it lasts.
Aromas of black olive and minerals underlie more traditional notes of dark chocolate, cola and espresso in the 2009 Opus One. The wine’s sleek. Creamy entry is supported by crisp acidity and a polished, supple mouthfeel. Flavors of ripe blueberry, cassis and licorice emerge on the palate. This tautly elegant and age-worthy wine simultaneously offers a smooth finish and a slight grip of tannin at the close. currant, blackberry, wild berry and spice flavors, ending with loamy earth and melted black licorice notes. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec. Stephen Tanzer (ST): 93 “Full medium ruby. Wild, flamboyantly expressive aromas of black raspberry, crystallized blackberry, smoke, leather, licorice, bitter chocolate and cedar, lifted by violet and spices. Smooth, mouthfilling and decidedly dry, with a lightly dusty character to its flavors of dark fruits, minerals and game. The broad, very long finish features building tannins.” Wine Spectator (WS): 92 “This bold, rich and assertive Opus is firm and concentrated, displaying a mix of dried currant, blackberry, wild berry and spice flavors, ending with loamy earth and melted black licorice notes. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec.” |
