Cellar/Tasting Notes
The Malbec craze continues in New York. The BenMarco is one of the first Malbecs we stocked. Made by veteran vigneron Susana Balbo, it is a beautiful, deep purple color with perfumed aromas of ripe red fruits and roasted coffee beans. It is lush, full-bodied and penetrating on the palate with loads of chewy, currant jam flavors, bright acidity, and a touch of grip on the almost savory finish. Some Bonarda has been blended for greater complexity and to achieve better balance.
Pairs well with a wide range of foods including beef, sausages, spiced or grilled pork, veal, medium-strong cheeses, and meat-based pasta sauces.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (RP): 90 "The 2010 Malbec contains 10% Bonarda in its makeup and received the same elevage as the Cabernet. Lovely aromas of black cherry, spice box, tobacco, lavender, and earthy minerals inform the nose of a ripe, succulent, intensely flavored wine that offers outstanding value and is meant for drinking over the next 5-7 years." |
